Meet our pastors.
Pastor Jeff Johnson, “Pastor JJ”, is originally from South Carolina. He grew up in Southern Baptist churches and ministered for a time in a in a SBC church. He came to embrace the Reformed faith in the mid-90’s and joined Covenant Reformed Baptist Church located in Easley, SC. After several years of being member he was installed there as a non-vocational elder in November 2005. He was ordained as one of the pastors of GIRBC in January 2008. He normally preaches the Word in the AM service. Pastor Johnson and his wife have one child.
Pastor David is a part-time non-vocational elder. After completing his bachelors degree in business he worked in the software industry for a decade, before moving into Christian publishing with Evangelical Press. During this time he became an elder in a baptist church in a small but famous tourist village of Haworth in the north of England (google ‘The Bronte Family’, or ‘William Grimshaw’). In 2012 he and his wife Sarah, and their three children, Benjamin, Samuel, and Amy moved to Grand Rapids so that he could complete an MDiv at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He graduated in 2016 and was subsequently called to serve at Grace Immanuel.
As well as being a pastor, he works full time at Reformation Heritage Books focusing on sales and marketing, while assisting Dr. Joel Beeke with a variety of projects. He enjoys football (soccer), lemon desserts, Indian food, and proper English tea.
Pastor Matt has been a member of GIRBC for over 30 years. After serving as a deacon for 10 of those years he was installed into the eldership. Pastor Matt is a non-vocational elder and works full-time for the United States Postal Service.
